A big cloud of ash hovers the Philippines on June 12, 1991. "Three days later, the volcano exploded in the second-largest volcanic eruption on Earth in this century." Scientist saved about 5,000 lives because of the forecast they predicted. Technically the actual explosion occurred at Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines on June 15, 1991. The eruption produced high-speed barrages containing hot ash, and gas one hundred miles across. Because it had lost most of the gas contained in it on the way to the surface the magma oozed out to form a lava dome but did not cause an explosive eruption.
Volcanic eruptions are very common in the Philippines because its in the Pacific Ocean and the Ring of Fire is around it. The Ring of fire surrounds part of the Pacific Ocean and the Philippines.
